Southern house plans take us back to a time when life had a much slower pace. These homes are simple in design usually square or rectangular with few or no offsets. They are usually symmetrical and are built on more of a formal style using brick and clad siding in most cases. Other variants of this house include uncovered and covered entrys in the form of porches, pedimented windows and doors, varying dentil work, pilasters, quoins, etc. Historical architectural styles such as Georgian house plans, Federal home plans, Colonial house designs, Gothic revival house designs, Victorian houseplans, and Greek Revival home plans are commonly referred to as southern house plans. You can find house plans in the southern style in places like Natchez, Mississippi, Savannah, Georgia, and other deep south cities. House plans of this nature are also found along the eastern sea board as far up as the state of Virginia. |
