Description

A Greek Revival house design inspired by the original “Shields Town House” in Natchez, Mississippi – circa 1860

This is a great example of Greek revival architecture with modern amenities. The Shields Town House plan is a 1-1/2 story home design. This historic home plan has just over 3,000 square feet of livable space with 3 bedrooms and 2-1/2 bathrooms.

The Shields Town House plan first floor

With the master bedroom on the main floor, this makes the perfect home for downsizing or for retiring couples. Along with a master suite, the main floor includes a study adjacent to the master with access to the master bedroom and covered porch of the master bed. This room is also ideal for a home office.

Directly across the foyer from the study is a formal dining room. A large kitchen houses a huge island and faces a spacious breakfast area for daily family meals. The size of the kitchen island can allow optional work space and eating space. This design modification can allow for the current breakfast room to be used as a sun-room, a play area, or a cozy keeping room. The family room is a grand space with a fireplace and coffer ceiling. The family room also provide ample access to a open deck on the rear of the house plan.

Second floor rooms

The second floor of this one and a half story home includes two secondary bedrooms and one bathroom. This floor is tucked under the roof, giving the home an appearance of being a one story design. A detached 2 car garage shares the Greek revival design theme and give the home a grand look.
